heat source in 2D model

Post by tjus »

Hi,
I have a question about the heat source in the heat equation when using a 2D model. From the documention of Elmer, I have been able to figure out that the units of the heat source whould be in W/kg, is that correct? How does that apply to a 2D-model, should it still be in W/kg?

What I'm in fact trying to model is a case of heat transfer around power cables surrounded with different materials so what I have is a cross-section of the cables and materials.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tomas

Yes, it's just that density is then in units kg/m^2 i.e. you should consider the density of 1m long cable at the cross-section. -Peter
