Interpreting resultant image

I'm using a complex geometric mesh, relative to the beam tutorial. The resulting displacement vectors are chaotic at best. A set of 11 beams - each one has a wall constraint at both ends. The resulting displacement vectors point into the walls at both ends (a good thing I guess?). I'm new to Elmer and I'm not sure if I should simplify the model. Is this actually a sign that the system is failing?

It means it is not a converged solution. Probably needs a finer mesh and higher order elements.

I was able to increase the number of iterations and the mesh fineness. From the SIF file:
Nonlinear System Max Iterations = 20 (originally 5)
Linear System Max Iterations = 1000 (originally 500)

It turns out to be very helpful to enter the correct data into the simulation. It is all in English units to much disdain, but that is how the mesh is built. The results are almost exactly what I had expected from the design tables. :geek:
