Ship in water

Post by fabioit »

Hi,
I want to see the flux of water along a ship profile.
Is it correct to procede in this way?
1. Create a 3d model of water cut by 3d model of the ship.
2. Use navier stokes equations.
3. Use boundary condition of velocity in one axis,
4. Apply this condition to all faces of the model of the water.

thank you for help.

Hi

Technically yes. However, this would probably be feasible for toy-size & slow boats. The Reynolds number is for any realistic boat so high that you should resort to turbulence modeling. I guess also the free surface shape should be considered for accurate modeling.
