I am trying to solve a heat transfer problem involving radiation. I decided to explore some of the sample and test problems first to see if everything was working as it should. There were a lot of problems with getting the geometry file into the correct format. Things that used to work did not.
Once I got through all that, there was a error message about view factors. It said they were not calculated. That seemed to be a problem among several users.
Are there any work arounds for the view factor problem?

Re: Heat radiation
I downloaded the radiation.zip file and it ran fine, no issues.
Your download had an error.txt file which has the line
'ViewFactors' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
This is usually an installation issue where the Elmer executables are not in the default path, therefore if Elmer calls a program the system can't find it.

Re: Heat radiation
Thank you.
I will reinstall Elmer and see what happens. You are right about the path. It does not include Elmer since that is the default.
Is there a possible problem by putting Elmer in the path?
I have used Elmer for several years without it being in the path.
Thank you.

Re: Heat radiation
I don't know of any problem with putting Elmer in the path. Is this windows or linux? which method of installation are you using?
