Elmer Webinar Series continuing on December 8!

Post by raback »

Dear Elmer users,

We are continuing with the popular Elmer FEM Webinar series with additional three presentations from members of Elmer Team. The webinars will be given during December 2021 on Wednesdays on Zoom at 14.00 EET (Helsinki), or 13.00 CET (Berlin). The Elmer webinar series are free of charge.

The first presentation "Coil modeling with Elmer FEM" will be given on Dec 8 when Jonathan Velasco. He will present how to model massive, stranded and foil windings in 2D and 3D. The presentation uses a new Python tool named Elmer CircuitBuilder to setup circuit networks in a user-friendly manner.

Dec 15 Thomas Zwinger will give a webinar "Geophysical applications beyond (but in connection to) Elmer/Ice".

Dec 22 Peter Råback will finish this mini series with "Multiphysics simulation with Elmer: examples with weak and strong coupling"

If you're interested in any of these register here:

Best regards,

PS. The third presentation (my) hasn’t yet been written so if there is some Multiphysics coupling that you would like to hear more about maybe you can sent me some inspiration

Dear Scientists,

Elmer FEM Webinar series continues again on Wednesday (Dec 15th) at 14 EET (Helsinki), or 13 CET (Berlin). This webinar "Geophysical applications beyond (but in connection to) Elmer/Ice" will be given by Dr. Thomas Zwinger. You can sign in here:

https://lnkd.in/gr4mghud

Elmer has a long history in Geophysics mainly confined to the field of Glaciology (i.e., the field of science dealing with glaciers, ice-sheets and sea ice). Since decades, Elmer/Ice is the scientific spearhead of Elmer in that field, used as a tool at universities and science institutes around the globe. In this webinar we want to show that there exist contributions in the field of Geophysical simulations by Elmer beyond Elmer/Ice.

In particular, we will put a spotlight on two recently introduced implementations: a visco-elastic model for the deformation of earth at a large scale (e.g., in reaction to the load of an ice-sheet or ocean) and first results of a still further developed groundwater model accounting for heat-transfer including permafrost, solute transport and soil deformation (lately applied to nuclear waste repository assessment). Both models, naturally, can be coupled to ice-sheet models but have also potential applications apart from a Glaciological context.

See you at the webinar!

Dear Elmer users,

Elmer FEM Webinar series continues again on Wednesday (Dec 22th) at 14 EET (Helsinki), or 13 CET (Berlin). This webinar "Multiphysics simulation with Elmer: examples with weak and strong coupling" will be given by Peter Råback.

You can sign in here until tomorrow:

In the webinar we go trough some concepts related to coupling. The different ways how coupling may be realized is demonstrated by simple use cases in thermal flow, fluid structure-interaction, magnetohydrodynamics, coupling to particles etc. In the end you may pose questions on solving multiphysics problems.

See you at the webinar!

Hi All,

Elmer Webinar series is over for now. We will continue perhaps next autumn.

In the meantime the material is available publicly.

Here are all the slides for all 12 sessions:
