To expand a bit on this post viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7422, where it would be nice for ElmerGUI to remember the directory where one last loaded a project. Fortunately, the option to select 'Recent projects' works nicely, if one wants to load one of the last several projects

It would also be nice when appending definitions that the current location of the edf and edf-extra folders were shown. For example, when one uses the 'New Project' window, the actual contents of the edf and edf-extra folders are shown, but if you use 'File', 'Definitions', then one has to change from the 'C:' drive to 'C:\Program Files\Elmer 9.0-Release\share\ElmerGUI' in order to select the edf-extra folder.

I downloaded and installed

ElmerFEM-gui-mpi-Windows-AMD64.exe

with a build date of 2021-06-25.

I did some testing, here are the results:

File > New project > Select project dir - worked.
File > New project > Select mesh dir - worked.
File > New project > Select geometry file - worked.
File > Load project - worked.
File > Save project - worked.
File > Save project as - worked.
File > Open - worked.
File > Load mesh - worked.
File > Save - worked.
File > Save as - worked.
File > Definitions > Append - worked, opened C:\Program Files\Elmer 9.0-Release\share\ElmerGUI
File > Save Picture - worked.

Very nice! That is a great improvement for ElmerGUI, now it acts a lot more like other Windows programs.
