Body Force MgDyn

Post by guillem_arque »

Hello everyone,
I am starting to learn how to use Elmer in electromagnetic simulations. I want to introduce current into a wire and to do so I saw it could be done through Body Force. In the MgDyn section of Body Force there you can introduce the current density in real and complex numbers, do you know in what units this current density is? Is it A/m^2, A/mm^2?

Thank you

If you use SI units elsewhere then the unit is A/m^2.

Like most FEA solver programs the units selected doesn't matter. It is up to the user to have a consistent set of units in all inputs, and understand what units those calculations would produce. However, ElmerGUI has some constants and materials that can be loaded and used, those constants are in SI units. So if you use ElmerGUI supplied constants or materials than everything should be in SI.
