Magnetic Field Strength inside Permanent Magnet

Post by MartinHoeijmakers »

Hi all,

If a permanent magnet is used in a normal way, the direction of the magnetic field strength H inside the magnet is opposite to the direction of the flux density B. However, I have seen in my results that the directions of H and B are the same. Is there a difference in interpretation of the meaning of H?

I have added a simple example.

I also noticed that there are relatively large nodal forces on the long sides of the magnet in the example (there is no flux through those sides). Is there perhaps a relation with the interpretation of H?

With kind regards,
Martin Hoeijmakers

Hi all,

I found the message from Mika - viewtopic.php?p=23737 - in which he tells that he already repaired the calculation of H. I have updated Elmer and B and H are opposite now.

Further, I will first study the theory on nodal forces to look for an explanation for the forces on the sides of the magnet.

With kind regards,
