Dear all,
I am trying to solve a static current problem with the StatCurrent model in 2D. It is basically a set of electrodes with a given potential and 1 electrode with a floating potential (to let it float I am using the boundary condition explained here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6715&p=21080&hilit=floating#p21071 ).
The issue I am facing is that the solution is not nearly close to converging. I tried a couple of different solvers, according to the ElmerSolver manual, but nothing has worked so far. Could somebody please give me a hint on what I am not doing right or what could be improved/tested? You can find the .sif attached and in case someone is interested, the msh file is in this link: https://ikpcloud.ikp.physik.tu-darmstad ... tzWsxfV4kW .
Thank you very much in advance,
Sabrina

Re: Stat Current convergence
Hi
Indeed, it seems you have classical convergence problems. The constant section for the floating pressure may complicate things.
Do you get good convergence without that section?
How about using "direct" method + MUMPS. Does it fit the memory.
You could choose higher ILU too, ILU2 and ILU3.

[SOLVED] Re: Stat Current convergence
Dear Peter,
Thank you for your suggestions. Actually, without the floating element it still didn't converge, but finally using ILU3 solved all the problems!
Best regards,
Sabrina

Re: Stat Current convergence
Hi Sabrina,
Maybe you could share the picture. There must be something challenging with the geometry when standard Poisson equation has trouble converging. But great that it was resolved.

Re: Stat Current convergence
exactly the same issue I have now, is there any update ?
