3d beam interaction with fluid

Post by armanini333 »

the example shows the interaction of a linear elastic 3d beam in a fluid. Stress and displacements in the beam are calculated from the pressure of the fluid as load case on the beam. The grid is rude, but its just for fast calculation of this example :-) Small displacements are assumed (1. order elastic theory). No mesh update is done for this reason. The example is a full GUI example.

The results are in the sign (where it is posititve it should be negative) inverted.

Thanks, this is really useful! Is there any chance you could post the .grd (or other meshing file) used in this test?

Thanks!

good one :)

but i can´t get it to converge:

ERROR:: IterSolve: Failed convergence tolerances.
ERROR:: ComputeChange: Norm of solution appears to be NaN

Is necessary to change "your default definitions" on the Setup or Iterations or tolerances to converge?

best regards

Hi

I am running simple elasticity problem (to compare linear and nonlinear solutions). While using the nonlinear elasticity solver, I had the same issue :
ERROR:: IterSolve: Failed convergence tolerances.
ERROR:: ComputeChange: Norm of solution appears to be NaN

The output is still generated, but is wrong, as can be seen in the fig attached. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks.
