Re: Very short heating: Heat solver artifact?
Thanx for your replies. So at least I have not made a very trivial error. I didn't buy the paper indicated by Peter yet. So if I understand correctly, very small timesteps might be a problem. Is that due to something like the internal accuracy of the solver, or is it a more fundamental effect? Are t...

Very short heating: Heat solver artifact?
Hi, I want to examine material heating with very short (µs) heat pulses. I have set up a simple axisymmetric case and observe a strange behaviour: The temperature under the surface where the heat flow is induced is decreasing while the heat flow is switched on. I cannot think of a physical effect ex...

Re: coupled fluid flow and heat simulation
However, I don't know if it could be something I could do in a productive way using Elmer. I spend so much time to prepare my simple cube-plate mesh in salome. If I had to do this for a complex heatsink (an enclosure designed by extruded aluminium) with a lot of boundary surfaces that could become ...

Re: Body Property confusion
Hi Gary, I am confused about the use of the "Body Property" that shows up in several of the model setup pages. What is the scope of Body Property 1 when setting the ambient temperature or when setting the Body Force? Could someone please elucidate. "Body Property 1" is just the d...

Hi, you can explicitly indicate what is to be saved, see models manual "Result output...". Default is to save everything. To put the keywords into the simulation section you can use "vtu:", see here: http://www.elmerfem.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7019#p22388 HTH, Matthias

Re: When i define SST k-Omega B.C, Elmer GUI Crash and stooped to work
Hi,
there were typos in the xml file. The name was sometimes mistyped as "SST-K-Omega" instead of "SST K-Omega".
The xml file in the attachment should work.

Matthias EDIT: N.B.: Spamhaus blocking of my IP is very annoying.

Yes, see my previous post. What is your problem exactly?

Re: When i define SST k-Omega B.C, Elmer GUI Crash and stooped to work
OK, so the cause of the problem is found. :) I assume that the Activate tags were intended to make the "Kinetic Energy Condition" and "Kinetic Dissipation Condition" appear. If there are such tags, then one could try to make them work. If not - well, those Conditions might not be...

I cannot do it right now, but I would check the solver xml. Maybe there is an error in the declaration of the corresponding field.

Matthias

Hmmm...
Is the crash reproducible?
Otherwise it will be difficult to find out what happens.
There is no software which is 100% stable...
