I have figured it out. Salome can build solid from STL file in geometry module. Then everything works fine. Thank you.kevinarden wrote: ↑26 Apr 2021, 18:52 Yes step is preferred because it can contain solid geometry. I believe stl file is only surface geometry.

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Perhaps that is not the installation path. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=install+elmer Hi Kevinarden, Thank you very much for your sharing. I go through the installation steps again. It seems no problem. And the problem should be the folder where my created files are saved. Salome ha...

Sorry to bother you. But I have set the path system variable, still not work...kevinarden wrote: ↑24 Apr 2021, 19:40 Yes you have ELMERHOME system variable set but that doesn't make it part of your PATH system variable. You need to add $ELMERHOME to the PATH system variable.

Re: could not apply boundary condition on face groups
Hmm,I have imported stl to salome, and mesh there. And export it to elmer. Is something wrong in this approach? Do I need to do some operation in salome? Thanks....

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
In the first one the PATH variable is not set so the operating system does not know where to find ELmerGrid. The second one is usually do to the file not existing, or you do not have read privilege to it. Hi Kevinarden, I think I have set up the path variable. I have reinstall Elmer by adding it to...

I still have problems running Elmer in Salome. I tried two computers and got two different error messages. Could you please give me some advice? Thank you very much. 1.Error message from one computer 'ElmerGrid' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 2....

could not apply boundary condition on face groups
Hello, I tried to do some simple test on Salome-Elmer. I could not fully use the Elmer plugin in Salome yet. Therefore, I export the mesh file to Elmer GUI for simulation. I originally created face groups in Salome. Elmer recognizes the face groups as bodies, not boundaries. I could not apply bounda...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Hi The StatElecSolve used some tailored routines to compute the capacitance matrix. This can now be mimicked by the library and this approach is used by the new generation vectorized static current solver. I don't think it is much mentioned anywhere, see test case: $ELMERSRC/fem/tests/StatCurrentVe...

Hi Rainer, kevinarden, and Peter,
Thank you for providing the information. I think I might not need to go into so much detail of the resistance calculation for now. Thanks again.
