Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Hi Peter, There are always errors when I tried to read sif file. I have to redo the setting every time for the simulation. Is any way to improve this? And after I run the simulation, if I try to change the setting, and run it again, Salome will just not respond. I have to restart the program. Is thi...

Weird results when bending a beam
I think I got weird results when bending a beam. I have set the body force as force 3: -1000. I fixed one end of the beam. And apply load to the other end: force 1: -2000. I guess force 1,2,3 signifies force along x, y, z direction, right? I anticipate the beam will bend not only along z-direction, ...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
As Kevinarden points out, the sif file has error when using the linear elasticity solver, I have to manually delete this following line, before start the solver. I hope you guys can update the plugin in near future. Thank you!
Code: Select all
Variable = Displacement(cdim)

Re: How to create Volume group from STL file of assembly in Salome
Hi Kevinarden,
I need blender to create more complicated geometries. I just tried simple cases first to test out the Salome platform. And as I could not run linear elasticity solver by the elmer plugin.

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Hi Rainer, Here you go. I have set the parallel setting with 2 processes without skipping the mesh partition. The simulation runs without error. But no result output. All files are in this link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ngv7t9gg9lu7u7k/AAAW0CN1-O7gkQ-swiSx_Gdwa?dl=0 Starting program Elmergrid Elme...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
I have tried using the same module in Salome. Running stat-current solver does not have any error. But running the linear elasticity solver in Salome has errors. I also run the linear elasticity solver in Elmer directly, no error. I think the salome plugin has some problems. Someone point out there ...

Why salome-elmer simulation could return LUA error when doing linear elasticity simulation?
I am using Salome-Elmer to do linear elasticity simulation and have an LUA error. I found out it may be the reading problem. Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Hello, I have been able to run statcurrent solver alone. But when I run simulation with linear elasticity and statcurrent together, the python console in Salome returns the following error. Does anyone know why? Thanks. Tryphena MAIN: Reading Model: C:\Users\...\case.sif Caught LUA error:...0-Releas...

How to create Volume group from STL file of assembly in Salome
Hello, I have created an STL file of simple assembly of an outer cylindrical shell and an inner core in Blender 3D software. Then I imported it into Salome. Salome seems not to be able to recognize there are two objects. I tried to build solid from the STL file. But it can only generate the outer sh...

Re: could not apply boundary condition on face groups
A stl file is only a surface not a solid, therefore you will get surface elements. Elmer will take the surface elements as bodies not boundaries unless there are volume elements included. To get volume elements you would need a solid in salome, not a surface. I have figured it out. Salome can build...
