Re: Limiting possible internal fluid pressure in Navier-Stokes simulation
Hello everybody, I managed to use soft limiters for the pressure in the Navier-Stokes solver. Per section 8.2 of the solver Manual: In the solver Control section: Apply Limiter = Logical True Limiter Value Tolerance = Real 1.0e-9 Limiter Load Tolerance = Real 1.0e-9 This generally enables the limite...

Re: Entries in Free Text Field in N-S Solver Control don't show in SIF
Hi Peter, thank you for your always quick Reply. I knew I forgot to mention something. The soft limiter functionality will Limit pressure to vapour pressure in a fluid film, hence it is given in the N-S solver. It is added as Body force to the fluid, the shown entry in the free text field just shoul...

Entries in Free Text Field in N-S Solver Control don't show in SIF
Hello alltogether, I am frequently using extra Options to Control specialities of the solvers and normally, the entries in the Free Text fields in the GUI dialogues Show up in the SIF file at the end of the respective section. In one case however, that is the solver Control of the Navier-Stokes solv...

Re: Limiting possible internal fluid pressure in Navier-Stokes simulation
Hello Peter, thank you for your assessment, I seem to be coming to the more difficult Areas now... :-). I wonder if using a user-defined compressibility model would do the trick, much like in http://www.elmerfem.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=748#p2528 Example from this post: Material 1 Name = "Lubr...

Limiting possible internal fluid pressure in Navier-Stokes simulation
Hello, Elmer community, I am sending in my question after undergoing some Research in this Forum here, and I did not find possible Solutions unfortunately. For modelling a 3D case of shearing a thin layer of low-viscosity fluid, I am undertaking Simulation using the N-S solver with incompressible ma...

Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?
Thank you for your assessment, Peter,
so I understand that I have to Focus in on the linear solver Settings. I will Keep this in mind when doing my next runs.
Best Regards and thank you for the continued assistance,
Thomas.

Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?
Hello alltogether, thank you so far for your hypotheses and proposals. I did some more digging myself as well, and came to a thought that lastly proved to be the solution. Up to that Point however, we were all wrong  The reason for the inconsistency seems to be the specific mesh density confi...

Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?
Alright, I'll try this, although this is quite cumbersome. To the extend of proper Display on the Screen, I was not able to find inconsistencies inside Salome. This brings me to a Point I did not mention before: I also transform the mesh using ElmerGrid. elmergrid 8 2 mesh.unv -autoclean -scale 0.00...

Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?
Good afternoon Matthias, thanks for this hint, however this was and is Standard procedure for me. Although it is only one volume Body, I use the Partition function and drive the mesh Groups from geometry Groups created within the Partition. So here the inconsitency exists although it is no multibody...

Re: Scalar field inconsistency at geometry face border?
Hi and thanks for the quick Reply, I tried now to merge nodes and Elements in my mesh - the functions found a handful of nodes and Elements and merged them, but not as many as to make up the whole Zone "1". Currently the solution is running again, I'll Report out on the results. BR, Thomas.
