Re: Simple questions. B.C.'s and ElmerGUI crashing. Boundaries and Body Properties.

doing this I was able just to divide the boundaries, but not entirely delete the internal one, but not delete it. I am probably doing something wrong... What i did: Geometry 1. make sketch of both rectangles, 2. create face 3. make partition from face 4. explode Mesh: 1.create, compute 2. create gro...

Thanks, I am using salome, but still struggling as i am not able to disable the inner boundaries between the bodies in 2D.I feel pretty stupid...

Thanks for any advice

Re: Simple questions. B.C.'s and ElmerGUI crashing. Boundaries and Body Properties.

You do not need the internal boundaries if the elements in the bodies share the same node. In 3D ElmerGUI uses the boundaries to display the bodies (using the boundary as a surface mesh). However, internal boundaries can belong to 2 bodies. These are called parents for boundary elements. When this ...

Lateral geostatical stress vector

Hi, I am trying to make a simple 1D thermo-mechanical analysis using elmerGUI. I want to calculate stresses in rock induced by outside temperature change. To get total stresses i need to implement geostatical lateral stress to the body. I suppose it can be done by applying bodyforce but in the bodyf...

internal boundaries in gmsh

Hi, I am trying to make a simple heat tranfer analysis similar to the intrusion in tutorial 3. I want to calculate propagation of heatwaves from surface. (left) I made "1D" mesh, but with regresive node density to the right by spliting the body in gmsh The problem i that there are now boun...
