About Coordinate Scaling in Elmer Plugin in Salome
Hello, I built geometries in Salome and tried to use coordinate scaling factor for FEM analysis in Elmer. I got effective resistance for a box. But I do not know how shall I calculate the resistivity. I know the surface area of the cross section in Salome. Should I multiply the surface area by the c...

Salome stop meshing since boundary mesh is overlapping
Hello, I have a bounding box with several curved cylinders in it. The cylinders have two layers and bridges. I tried to mesh them. The first time without error. But failed to do FEM analysis on Elmer. When remeshing it second time, it returns error, saying stop meshing since boundary mesh is overlap...

Boolean problem in salome
Hello, I would like to ask something about the boolean problem in Salome. I have imported two STL files of cylinders in the geometry module, and performed difference operation. But it did not cut through. But in Blender, it can cut through. I tried more triangles for the cylinder mesh, but still not...

Re: About clean up imported STL mesh in Salome
Hi Kevinarden, Actually, that curved loop is a welder line generated by a blender add-on, which is like the one between the two cylinders. I hide the objects being welded together. In the light of your response, I think I should generate the welder line directly in Salome. Hopefully, I can find an e...

About clean up imported STL mesh in Salome
Hello, I have imported an STL file into Salome. I want to clean up the original triangular mesh. But nothing happens for the small pipes-like structures after I click "Union Faces". What operation shall I do to clean up the mesh? I would like to remesh it using the Netgen mesh in the mesh ...

Re: How to create Volume group from STL file of assembly in Salome
As kevinarden says, ELMER GUI shows the names of the volume groups but does not display them well in the graph. But it does not affect the solution.

Re: Weird results when bending a beam
Hi Peter and Kevinarden,
I have been able to see the X movement in linear solver when I remove the body force along Z direction.
I also try the nonlinear solver, it works well. Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available
Hi Rainer, Yes, I appreciate you and others who answer my questions on this forum. I have been able to update the XML file and remove the sif error. I am also comparing the results with other commercial software. I aim to replace commercial software with this open-source software. I found that if I ...

Hi Peter,
Thank you for your advice. I was thinking to use the opensource workflow: salome-elmer in my thesis. I do not have too much time to figure out developing programs...
