Re: Checking if my geometry is correct

This is the geometry I generated before. I meant to assign 30.5 to y direction not x. Somehow I cannot regenerate this.

Re: Checking if my geometry is correct

Hi Kevin, Thanks for all your help. I still have difficulty with gmsh. I want to have a cylinder (30.5 in y direction, radius 7.62). The cylinder is non-hollow and I want to mesh it somehow that it has nodes less than 80. I previously did that in the wrong direction. Now I cannot generate the right ...

Re: Elmer does not tag when calculation is finished in multicore

Hi Peter, Thanks so much for your reply. Should I add the exit or stop statement to my Fortran code? I have my sif file, Fortran and Python codes. My Fortran code consists of functions. I am not quite certain where I should add the exit statement. Can you guide me further. Thanks so much. Kindest re...

Re: Checking if my geometry is correct

Thanks so much Kevin. I really appreciate it! Can you also generate a cylinder (just the geometry) that has less than 60 nodes? I truly appreciate it. When I build my geometry, it seems all the edges are not united.

Thanks so much,
Lida

Re: Checking if my geometry is correct

Thanks so much Kevin. I don't think the cylinder is intended to be hollow.

Re: Checking if my geometry is correct

The equations being solved are: Linear elasticity and Heat equation. My main concern is the shape of two geometries I have. I feel the one I made with the more coarse mesh, is not the same as the original one and I do not know how to resolve this.

Thanks so much,
Lida

Re: Checking if my geometry is correct

Hi Kevin, Thanks so much for your quick reply. I intended to increase the mesh size from the original mesh I had. You actually helped me before to open the original geometry I had ( see attached). So I intended to regenerate the same geometry I had, and implement bigger mesh on it to reduce the comp...

Checking if my geometry is correct

Hello,

I am getting some error running my calculations. I started thinking maybe there is something wrong with the geometry (cylinder) I have built with gmsh. Can anyone let me know if the attached geometry is correct? Or did I do something wrong?

Thanks so much.
Kindest regards,
Lida

Re: Specifying coordinates in Fortran code

Thanks so much Kevin and Rich for your prompt responses. I used the fsi_beam as an example and managed to resolve the issue. Thank you very much for your help.

Kindest regards,
Lida
