Re: Can I change the default "Load project..." directory?

You can change the path in the egini.xml file. See ElmerGUI manual, Appendix A

Maybe Z88, freeware focussing on mechanics, is an option for you: https://en.z88.de/z88aurora/

Re: heat: interior boundaries how to

You are right, this could be one of my stupid mistakes: U norm automatically takes into account an average overall heat Resistance for the air layer on both sides of the wall (R=0.13 m2.K/W interior, R=0.04 exterior). So if you leave these out of the calculation the isotherms remain horizontal? Or i...

Re: heat: interior boundaries how to

Hi, I am really stuck on this one. I made a pptx with my simple workflow and added the project file. As you will notice the result of the Elmer heat flow calc is wrong. Now I believe Elmer is much smarter than this beginner, so what am i doing wrong? If someone could have a quick look, I would be ve...

Re: heat: interior boundaries how to

I have calculated the exact same case in a software (Unorm) that I am familiar with. I have put both the results in one picture. In Unorm you see how the isotherms deflect (extreme because aluminium vs. plastic) around the thermal bridge, I believe this is correct. This is just a simple example for ...

Re: heat: interior boundaries how to

Thank you Kevin for spending so much time on this beginner! But the steady state cannot result in a "flat" temperature profile. A thermal bridge in a facade results in a "hot spot" on the outside of the facade, in the cold season you can make them visible with an infrared camera....

Re: heat: interior boundaries how to

Thanks for your response. I think we have a misunderstanding. My problem is that I have a thermal bridge, a very heat conductive material, which penetrates a "a very simple facade". This would normally cause a deep bulge in the isotherms, I guess. But my isotherms are straight/ uniform so ...

Re: heat: interior boundaries how to

OK thx! But my question remains: why do i get a uniform heat diffusion and no thermal bridge to be seen? What went wrong?

Re: heat: interior boundaries how to

I realize that I might have created confusion by using "interior boundary" in an ambiguous sense. I have an interior boundary which is simply the interior of a building, it has the value T=293K (exterior T=250K). The other interior boundary are the 2 boundaries between the 3 bodies, there ...
