Re: Discrepancy between Elmer and COMSOL results of 3D coil

Hello I think the problem might be related to this keyword: Circuit Equation Voltage Factor = Real $1/6 If I remember correctly, there was some issue with that. There is another keyword, used in reducing symmetries, which I have forgotten. Someone else working with electrical machines might remember...

Re: Multiple foil windings

Hello Vencels, I did not try your files, and while I agree that this is probably a bug of some sort, you don't actually need the "body" namespaces unless your "Alpha/Beta" gets two values at the same time (for example if Body 1 Alpha should be 0 and for Body 2 Alpha should be 1)....

Fortran language server

What's up fellow developers? I ran into a quite cool project and decided to give it a shoutout here. I hope you find it as useful as I: https://github.com/hansec/fortran-language-server I think it is super interesting that Fortran, the oldest commercial language, still has some traction. At least so...

Re: WhitneyAVHarmonic - low-frequency homogenization

Dear Spanda, it seems that no-one has been interested in these losses in detail before (the total losses can be extracted from circuits as well), thank you for pointing out this short coming. You are partly right, the equation that you mention indeed is good to go for the low frequency model. But fo...

Re: Performance under Windows vs. Linux?

Hi, does anyone have experience with Elmer performance under Windows (10) vs. Linux, or are there any comparisons Windows vs. Linux on the same (or comparable) hardware? I might have the option to get a dedicated simulation machine where I have the choice of OS. Thanks for any hint, Matthias Hi Mat...

FreeCADBatchFEMTools

Hello, I am pleased to inform you that there is a new pre-processing library for Elmer called FreeCADBatchFEMTools. This library tries to offer the necessary tools for using FreeCAD as a preprocessor for ElmerSolver in batch mode. See: https://github.com/ElmerCSC/elmerfem/tree/devel/ElmerWorkflows/F...

Re: Mgdyn shows ~20% of expected flux through a surface

Hi Mike, you could try to compute the average flux through some surface by defining a keyword in a boundary section: Boundary 1 Name = "Boundary where flux is computed" Target Boundaries(1) = $ flux_boundary Magnetic Flux Average = Logical True End Another way to compute inductance is via ...

Re: incorrect magnetic force in 2D axisymmetric magnetic model

Also, the distributed patterns of Vector potential line are different in FEMM and Elmer(using Paraview) as followings. Why different ???? Note that in case you have an axisymmetric case, in Paraview, you need to multiply the vector potential with 2 * pi * r if you wish to plot the magnetic field li...

Re: Simple Pipe Acoustics - the very basics

Thanks Peter for confirming my conclusions that the solver gives wrong results. Now that we are sure about this fact, the next step would be to contact the people who coded the solver and ask them to kindly fix the bug. I don't know who needs to be contacted. Perhaps if you Peter know them, could y...
