Re: Meshing software

Hi Greg, I think the Universal mesh format seems to be working already. It is not perfect mainly because it is missing the pyramids. Still it apparently provides a working workflow between the two codes. It is ok for us that people combine open source and closed source. We are pragmatic. The busines...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available

Hi, Rainer, what is the path that the XML files get into the plugin, or do you use the XML files of the Elmer installation? For this particular problem I just removed "Displacement" from the XML file as this is also the internal default in the code. ElmerGUI knows how to replace "cdim...

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available

Hi

I suggest that you make the 1st version with Salome. Then jump to your favorite editor for the rest of the workflow. Fix the errors and rather report upstream what the problems were. This is not a workflow used often by the developers.

Re: Weird results when bending a beam

Hi

If you use a linear elasticity model I guess the displacement will only be to the direction of the force. You should use the geometrically nonlinear ElasticSolve.

Re: Salome: Elmer-plugin available

Hi,

This is not actually needed in the XML file. I just removed it in the "devel" branch. Hopefully the XML files found their way to the plugin.

Re: Static Current Conduction vs MagnetoDynamics for current density calculations

Hi

In harmonic case you cannot just limit the treatment to the conductor. Also, you need to give some BCs for the vector potential. See consistency test:

Code: Select all

https://github.com/ElmerCSC/elmerfem/tree/devel/fem/tests/mgdyn_harmonic_wire
or the same as a ElmerGUI tutorial.

Hi, Because you used "nonlinear system relaxation factor < 1". -Peter

Re: TIMESTEP SMALLER WITH LEVEL SET METHOD

Hi This is your problem: ComputeChange: NS (ITER=10) (NRM,RELC): ( 0.12759146E+13 0.69524210 ) :: navier-stokes When maximum velocity goes very large then to fill the criteria v*dt<h the timestep becomes very small. So probably the routine is ok you just have your flow solution diverging. -Peter

Re: FIX LID CONDITION ON A BOUNDARY

Hi Andrea, Before trying to analyze the sif it would be good to know what you're trying to analyze. Is the interface between the fluid and air an internal interface? Now the limitation of the Largrangian approach is that your free surface here needs to be a unique function of x. Then only can you ma...

Hi, ...or if you always work with certain set of solvers it may be a good idea to move the needed XML files to the "edf" directory permanently. -Peter
