Re: Infinite Element Domain for Whitney AV solver
Dear Peter and modelman75, Looking for such item in Elmerfem, I have stumbled upon this post. I am using for time to time the FE solver GetDP. They implement there a shell transformation that blows up some elements of the mesh sending the boundary at A = 0 father away that it appears in the actual m...

Re: Issue in the Heat solver with "Heat Joule": minus values and inconsistent magnitude
Hi Peter, I have done some quick tests adding your recommendation. The losses are not affected by the changes. I am adding the code in case that I have made a mistake adding the lines. My case is linear and I did some tests to see if the a linear change in losses would provide a corresponding change...

Issue in the Heat solver with "Heat Joule": minus values and inconsistent magnitude
Dear all, I have an issue with the Heat Solver (HeatSolver) and the computation of the "Heat Joule", my results span down to minus values. The maximum value is twice as less as expected (benchmark against GetDP on the same mesh): QElmer = 5.4e4 W/m3 Qgetdp = 1.06e5 W/m3 I am attaching the ...

Re: Statistics on ElmerSolver: number of DOFs, memory usage and CPU time
Dear Fabian,
Thanks!
I have missed the information in the manual (p. 286 in the model manual). My bad!
The "CPU Memory" operator seems to work fine.
Best,
Frederic

Re: Hexahedral mesh - error message - magnetodynamic model
That is correct. I did not understand that I had to use "BooleanFragments{}" in Gmsh to be able to share nodes and the "Coherence Mesh" was not enough to do the trick.
Sorry for the delay to close the thread. With a correct mesh, it works fine thus far.
Best,
Frederic

Statistics on ElmerSolver: number of DOFs, memory usage and CPU time
Dear all, I am currently trying some 3D magnostatic codes using different mesh types (unstructured and structured meshes). I would like to get some statistics such as the memory usage, the CPU time and the number of degrees of freedom. The ElmerSolver provides the CPU time if I am correct. However, ...

Re: Hexahedral mesh - error message - magnetodynamic model
That is correct. i realized afterwards. Here is the correct MESH file. I have cleaned up and now the error is in the convergence of the whitney AV solver.
I have attached the file anew.
Sorry about that, best,
Frederic

Hexahedral mesh - error message - magnetodynamic model
Dear all, I have been trying to solve a simple magnetodynamic problem, magnetic flux density created by a closed coil. The problem can be solved using tetrahedron mesh, no issue there. When I am using a hexahedral mesh on the coil, an error occurs (The error is given below). I am attaching the hexah...

MATC usage - minimum between two parameters
Dear all, A simple question, I would like to define a parameter as the minimum of two other parameters already defined. I have tried different things. I give my last try without success: $ a1 = 1 $ a2 = 2 $ a3 = Real MATC "min(a1 a2)" What would be the correct way to get the minimum? Best,...

Simulating a solenoid with manually imposed current density in Elmer
Dear all, I did a quick test for a solenoid with a manually impressed current density. If it is of use, here is the code. Body 1 is a long solenoid with a thin wall and Body 2 is the surrounding air (a sphere). The mesh is too large to be added, therefore I am attaching a picture of the solenoid and...
