Units of Pressure in Navier Stokes

Post by swaroop »

Hi all:
I am trying to model a 100 Pa drop across a duct. Can anyone tell me what are the units for the pressure in incompressible Navier Stokes BC mode.
I entered 100 in "External Pressure" at one face of the duct in the 'Boundary Condition' dialog box and 0 in "External Pressure" on the other face. After solving I see the pressures in the powers of 10^84(using default postprocessor). The 'Model Summary Bounding Box' shows that the units for my geometry is in mm. Could this be the source of error (i.e geometry in mm and bc in SI units)? I have tried many ways, can anyone help me out here?

Thank you in advance,
Swaroop

Hi

Unit of pressure is Pascal assuming everything else is in SI units. If your mesh is given in mm then this obviously is not the case. The Reynolds number of the problem is then 1000-fold and you are solving a much more difficult problem. Probably the values you see are the result of divergence of the iteration and therefore not relevant.
