PATH environment variable reset by ELMER by installation

Dear All,
today I installed Elmer 6.0 4440. After the installation process, my entire (rather huge) PATH environment varibale was reset to "C:\Elmer6.0\lib;C:\Elmer6.0\bin;" on my Win XP machine, causing a lot of confusion to other programs.
From my point of view, this is a rather major problem because it spoils vital parts of the OS and therefore is a bug. I'd suggest elmer should rather only add its specific entries.
