Coriolis force?
Coriolis force?
How can I do the Coriolis force in order to simulate the motion of a fluid in a rotating duct (like the impeller of a centrifugal pump)?

Re: Coriolis force?
Hi
See the documentation of FlowSolver (Ch. 2) in
http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/physics ... Manual.pdf
The relevant keyword is "Angular Velocity" in body force section.
Unless you have rotational symmetry I would think that in many cases you should have sliding mesh - which Elmer currently does not have.

Re: Coriolis force?
Thank you for the reply :)
I'm forcedly assuming the existence of rotational symmetry :D

Re: Coriolis force?
There is a test case "RotatingFlow" where the same simple case if solved assuming first rotating BCs, and then rotating coordinate system. -Peter
Re: Coriolis force?
Where might one find this test case? Is it documented anywhere?

Hi
The test cases come with many distributions in a dedicated directory. If not, you can fetch them from svn:
http://elmerfem.svn.sourceforge.net/vie ... fem/tests/
The test cases are intended to ensure that new features do not introduce any bugs or compatibility issues. All in all there are about 170 tests. Documentation is at most a few lines in the .sif files.
