Importing STP files not working

I tried to import a .stp file to generate a from it. However I get the following message:

Unable to (re)mesh: no input data or mesh generator (please make sure that your input file suffix is in lower case)
````
I have read the following community post

however the ElmerTutorials mention that it is possible to import .stp files and mesh them using nglib

Do you have any suggestions

It works on my W10 installation, but I get the same error as you on Ubuntu. Both were installed using the binaries, not compiled.

Well I compiled mine using the aur and the git. So it seems it is a problem with the Linux version
