Thermo-elastic beam

Post by asandip »

Hello,

I am looking to simulate the benchmark problem - thermo-elastic beam. The beam is subjected to an end load (thermal and mechanical). The goal is to determine the temperature distribution, stresses and strains in the beam.

In my model, under Equations I selected Heat Equation and Linear Elasticity. I was able to apply Heat Equation to body 1, but when it came to applying Linear Elasticity to Body 1, that option was not available. Same was the case with boundary conditions. I was unable to apply more than one boundary condition to the same surface (applied thermal boundary conditions, but was unable to apply mechanical boundary conditions). How should I proceed?

Thank you for any information you can provide.

Once a boundary condition is applied then that boundary is not available for another. However, in that one boundary condition you can apply as many conditions as as need, heat and linear elastic at the same time.
