Hello,
I am trying to use the elmer fem for thermal analysis of electrical machine . I have some problems in the boundary definition the Heat transfer coefficient means the natural our force convection coefficient plus radiation?if it is not correct how can I calculate this element ?
Heat transfer coefficient
Re: Heat transfer coefficient
Hi,
the heat transfer coefficient can include conduction and convection. The radiation can be taken in to account separately.
I would suggest that you read the corresponding chapter in the Elmer Models manual.

Re: Heat transfer coefficient
For calculation of convection coefficient --I usually use the dimensionless numbers and calculated base some empirical correlations .
here I have to make this calculation and then put the number in sif ?
Do you have any example about calculation of this factor for Elmer ?

Yes.payam wrote:For calculation of convection coefficient --i usually use the dimension less number and calculated base some empirical correlations .

No, it depends on your geometry and how accurately you want to determine this coefficient.payam wrote:Do you have any example about calculation of this factor for Elmer ?
