Elmer setup for PCB Vibration and Shock

Post by tmd63 »

Hi,
I have a simple install of Elmer 8.2 with a GUI (although there were complaints that a newer version of C++ was on my PC).
I want to simulate shock and vibration of a PCB. I could output stp files from the design, but I dont know the best form to use for Elmer (this is me first attempt at running this software).
Is there any instruction documents that could explain how to set-up Elmer to simulate shock and vibration on PCB assemblies? Would I need to get all the young's moduli for every part used? Would it be better to simulate the PCB as a combined unit or break it down into the individual parts (IE copper, epoxy and glass fibre)? Has anyone done this type of simulation before that can provide help please.
Regards.
