providing mesh,boundary,bodies in separated files?

Post by teobo »

Hello,
Foreword:
as I have learned there are basically 3 kinds of data provided for the solver:
-mesh
-boundaries
-bodies
Until now I stuffed them into a .unv with Salome and converted them with ElmerGrid 8 2 test.unv, but now I can not do provide that anymore. Hopefully just can deliver 3 flat mesh separated files (.stl, .obj,..?) with each data in it?

Question:
Might there be a manner to feed 3 seperated files to ElmerGrid or maybe ElmerSolver or not?

Hi

ElmerGrid does not include meshing features beyond its native format. Otherwise it only does mesh conversion. Hence the files must include all information that specifies the mesh as do the unv files. Stl files, however, are not mesh files they are merely surface triangulariations. Simple stl files can be used by netgen/tetgen plugins in ElmerGUI.

Thanks Peter,
I see, I will give .inp file generation a try then.
