Meshing in GMSH, Elmer or Netgen

Post by shauns87 »

Hi All,
I am trying to mesh a .step file of the size around 5 MB. It is a heat sink with flat fin structure. As soon as I import it in GMSH or Netgen or Elmer, it starts to mesh, but all three softwares crashes after around 75 % of meshing. Please resolving this issue! Is there a problem in the CAD file??

Hi,

did you use the latest version/nightly build of gmsh?
If you have more than one body in your step file, this might be the problem. Can you generate a 2D mesh?
You can also try to ask the gmsh mailing list: gmsh@geuz.org. I think you must register before, see http://www.geuz.org/mailman/listinfo/gmsh/

HTH,

Matthias
