Joule heating

Post by asandip »

I am looking for the theoretical reference/equation used to determine joule heating for the following solvers:

1. WhitneyAVSolver (case.sif file attached)
2. MagnetoDynamics2DHarmonic used in Tutorial 15/Harmonic magnetic field in 2D - Induction heating of a graphite crucible

I reviewed chapter 16 of Elmer Modes Manual, but couldn't find the equation for joule heating. Thank you for any information you can provide.

Thank you. I found the equation in Elmer Model Manual. Using MagnetoDynamics2D solver, the equation to determine joule heating is given in Elmer Modes Manual (19.1). What is the absolute value for the out of plane component of vector potential in this tutorial, Az?

I also attempted to build the Induction heating elmer project by working through the tutorial, but my results are not matching with what is listed in the tutorial.

1. Worked through tutorial 15 -- Induction heating (crucible_mycopy.sif)
2. Similar to Elmer Tutorial (crucible.sif)

But 1 and 2 are not giving me the same results for joule heating. I have reviewed it multiple times, but I can't find the problem. Thank you for any suggestions you can provide.
