Unable to start parallel solver

Post by laura » 28 Mar 2013, 17:28

Hello,

I try to use the parallel mode for the solver.
So I went to "Run -> Parallel settings" and changed "Use parallel solver" for True but the solver write the partitioned mesh and stop, saying that it's unable to start parallel solver.
Did someone solve this problem?

Laura.

Hi Laura

If there is no parallel Solver the GUI cannot start it. In windows the MPI based parallelization is quite troublesome there is no parallel Windows installer. If you want to use Elmer in parallel I recommed some unix flavour.

Hi Peter,

is there hope that the parallel solver will be available for Windows users in the foreseeable future?

Hello,

I've tried to start an example (ThermalFlowInCurvedPipe) with the parallel solver.
The System is Windows 10 64bit and i've tried it with the MPI that comes with the Elmer-Installation, then Microsoft MPI 7 and OpenMPI 1.6.2.

In the Parallel Settings I have changed the path to the Executable but what i have to Change bei Arguments?

(Sorry for my english)

Hello,

I found it and now it's running with These Options:

Executable:
C:/Program Files/Microsoft MPI/Bin/mpiexec.exe

Arguments:
-n %n -genvlist PATH,ELMER_HOME ElmerSolver_mpi.exe

How can I save this as Default?
