Elmer input requirements

Post by Wolfgang »

What input file formats can Elmer accept? IGES? STEP? DWG? DXF? If not, what program could I use to convert to Elmer-compatible format?

What are the hardware and operating system requirements? 32 bit? 64bit? deb or rpm? Memory use? Hard disk space consumed? CPU?

Sorry if I am blunt, but would the answer not be best placed on the FAQ page? If I look at other FAQ pages, they are clearly a marketing tool and can avoid a lot of potential user frustration if designed effectively.
In my case, I indend to use a 3D CAD modelling program to create the geometry and Finite Element Analysis to apply physics (largely temperature and stress fields) to it. My understanding is that Elmer provides for handling the mathematics, I will have to provide the differential equations that describe the physics.
