Elmer 9.0 crashes on Windows 10

Post by julien givernaud »

Hello,

I try to use ElmerGUI on Windows 10 but always I have a crash. For example when I try to assign a material from the library :x
Does it a known issue ? 3 crashes in 3 tries for the moment at different times

One question: Long time that I have not use Elmer. How can I save a project via ElmerGUI ? In ElmerGUI I choose save as but I can choose only a folder, when I try to open it again I have no specific file to open, only mesh files and sif.

ElmerGUI has save project and load project, which only selects a folder beacuse a project is a group of files including the mesh and the sif. File open opens a specific file generally a step file, gmsh file, unv etc.

Hello,

Ok thank for your answer.

What about the multiple crashes on Windows? Do I have to run without the GUI ?
The GUI is very nice! Seems a commercial software.

Hi Julien,

Because many new functionalities were added to the new version of ElmerGUI, one of them might cause the crashes. Could you try unchecking "View->Show Object Browser" menu (as shown in the attached picture), then close ElmerGUI and restart? This will remove the Object Browser and may help avoid crashing.

Regards,
Saeki
