Problems with rotate pan zoom

Post by mauc »

Hi,

ElmerWiki says you should use your mouse to rotate, pan, and zoom.
Rotate: press the left mouse button and move the mouse.
Pan: press the middle mouse button and move the mouse.
Zoom: press the right mouse button and move the mouse.

If I do press the left mouse button and move the mouse, the model does rotate
However if I try to press the middle mouse button (wheel) and move the mouse - nothing happens
If I turn the mouse wheel the model zooms.
If I press the right mouse button and move nothing happens. When I release the right mouse button - a menu pops up.

did anyone encounter the same problems?
Where could I adapt the mouse (actually I was hoping for a "menu" where I could assign funtions to my buttons like in computer games ;-) - I just could not find it)

Thanks a lot

Hi,

for me, left mouse button rotates, middle button (wheel) pans, right button opens a menu. ElmerGUI 7 under Windoze 7.

I changed the mouse, and now it works...
My Logitech M560 does not work. However a standard Logitech RX250 does

resurrecting this thread since I'm running into a similar issue on my laptop. on windows 10, elmer8.4:
left click and drag rotates
right click brings up a context menu
right click and drag brings up the same menu
middle click is supposed to be emulated by clicking both buttons. "middle click" and drag pans.

so it seems there is some right click context menu function overriding the zoom function. judging by the date of the previous post, it seems this issue has been around for quite some time.

I was able to dig around my laptop's Dell Touchpad setting and enable a gesture to emulate a scroll-wheel. it seems that this manages to zoom. So it seems that Left & drag = rotate, Middle and drag = pan, right click = context menu, and scroll wheel = zoom.

I've seen a few confused posts about the right click not zooming. should the wiki be updated?
