ElmerGUI Portable

Post by immertroll »

Hello,

I would like to use Elmer without an installation. I get the Elmer7.0-rev5884-win64.zip from http://sourceforge.net/projects/elmerfe ... /Win64zip/.

When I install Elmer I can find a "ElmerGUIlogger.exe" where I can start the frontend of Elmer. How does it work with packed version?

Thanks for help

Okay if somebody needs this information. I found the information by myself.

The ElmerGUI is only available in 32 Bit. So download the 32Bit Version and overwrite the Solver with the version of
the 64bit edition.

Thats all! Only the post processor does not work. I have to use the VTK Post processor.

I noticed there is no portable version for the current version Elmer. Are there any plans for this? I would very much appreciate a portable version.

Considering that a great portion of the big companies does not grant their employees admin privileges, this could be a great feature helping the engineers to test and use the software. Next, it would be great if we could add the software to a portable software manager such as Portapps or Zero Install.

P.S.1. I requested the same feature here on Discord.

P.S.2. There is a Zip file available here for the NonGUI version.

P.S.3. The GUI version without MPI can be downloaded from here.

Hi

I finally took the time to automate the Windows builds. They are available in:

https://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/physic ... n/windows/

New ones should appear every night.
