Can Elmer do thermal-mechanical coupled analysis? If so, which solver I need to use? For example, in laser welding, the laser heat will cause part distortion. This usually needs to perform a fully thermal-mechanical coupled analysis to solve the problem. I didn't see any example about this. I appreciate if anyone could explain this.
Thanks,
Jingfu
Thermal/mechanical Coupled analysis
Re: Thermal/mechanical Coupled analysis
Hi,
I think this is possible, although I never did it myself.
Have a look at tutorial 9 in the ElmerTutorials_nonGUI.pdf which you will find here: http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/physics/elmer/doc
There is also the Models Manual and other documentation which is worth consulting.
HTH,
Matthias
