Material Models in Elasticity

Post by salil19 »

Hello,
I am a new user of Elmer. I would like to know whether it is possible to have user defined material models for the elasticity solver. Specifically, I would like to add user defined hyperelastic (both compressible and incompressible) material models. Can you please let me know whether this is possible. And if yes, can you please point me to some reference document/resource.

Thank you.

Hi,

The elasticity solver doesn't yet offer a clean interface which would systematize the endeavour of adding new material models to it. The material models it now offers have been added one by one without a proper effort of trying to systematize the design. So I would say that currently adding a new material model is not possible without modifying also the code that defines the elasticity solver.

Best regards,
Mika
