What is "Max Output Level"

Post by saxonfahrer »

Hello,
a (probably) stupid question to the ELMER GUI "Model --> Setup": What is the meaning of "Max Output Level" in the "simulation" section? And what number do i have to choose for what model/reason?

Thank you in advance

Hi

It controls the verbosity. If you set it to 3 then only warnings and errors will be printed on the screen. If you have it ~10 you will get much more info. When people write solvers they estimate the importance of some output and add it as a parameter to the Info() function. There are no strict rules. I usually use 4-5 for production and if problems occur go up to 32 (the maximum). In practice only values up to 10 are frequently used.
