Triangle shell elements

Post by e:ke »

Hi ElmerExperts,

I'd like to use ElmerSolver under linux in the field of structure mechanics.
I have a 3d surface (clamped at the edges) consisting of triangles, which should be treated as shell elements.
A 3d force vector is present for each node (a result from a flow simulation).

My questions are:
- How do I set up shell elements? I only found the plate model (SMITC)
- The plate model works as a first test case, but I can't distribute force vectors to the nodes. This should be possible somehow?!
- Is it possible to treat large (nonlinear) deformations for shell elements?

Thank you!
Eike
