Compile with ElmerIce on Windows using Cmake

Post by Redwood »

Hello,

I am new to Elmer, Cmake, and compilation processes. I am trying to download, compile, etc. Elmer (GUI) with Elmer_Ice solvers on Windows 7. Most of the instructions I’ve found are for Linux and/or older versions of Cmake and I’m having some trouble.

I’ve downloaded Elmer with the Windows installer and ran Git to get a local copy of Elmer_Ice. I’m not sure how to use the Cmake GUI, however, to compile everything; the things I’ve tried give me errors and I’m not seeing anything in the “Name” and “Value” columns that I’ve seen in some of the other postings on this forum (which is how they have suggested to connect to Elmer_Ice).

Has anyone who has recently done this process for Windows have tips?

Thank you!

Hi Stephanie,
I have not used Elmer in Windows and I am using it in Ubuntu.
I hope someone working in Windows can help you with it.
If you want to use Elmer (running in Ubuntu/LinuxMint) in Windows, you can install it through virtual machine - VMware.
For installing Elmer in windows through VMware (linux), please download it through:
