Hi,
I am not using Debian or Ubuntu, but Suse.
Thanks,

Re: Installation on Linux
Unfortunately I'm not aware of precompiled Elmer-packages for Suse Linux distributions.
If compiling from source is out of the question (it may be tricky), then one possibility is to install a virtual system for which precompiled binary packages exist. For example VirtualBox + Ubuntu Linux or VirtualBox + Windows. I have also been reported that the Win32 binaries might run under Wine on 32 bit Linux systems (bad performance - not recommended).

Re: Installation on Linux
Other options:
1. Create a chroot and install Debian or Ubuntu there (much simpler than full virtualization).
2. Use the Debian "alien" utility to convert the .deb into an .rpm.
