Good morning everyone.
I try to tell my experience elmer upgrade (hopefully to help others).
I state the reasons for this attempt to update: Elmer is present in the native repository of Ubuntu 10.04, in order to follow up step of the tutorial in May 2011 I need a newer version than the one installed (r4262).
I tried to add a special repository
http://www.opennovation.org/ubuntu/
But where there is a mismatch between the version and elmer elmer-common (from synaptic, then I do not install the second package).
Manual Installation
I tried downloading various packages from
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/e/elmerfem/
elmer_5.5.0.svn.5210.dfsg-1_i386.deb
elmer-common_5.5.0.svn.5210.dfsg-1_all.deb
libelmer-dev_5.5.0.svn.5210.dfsg-1_i386.deb
libelmersolver-6.1_5.5.0.svn.5210.dfsg-1_i386.deb
libelmersolver-dbg_5.5.0.svn.5210.dfsg-1_i386.deb
I can not complete a series of cross-dependencies, which now explain:
the package elmer_5.5.0.svn.5210.dfsg-1_i386.deb
requires
libavcodec52 (> = 4:0.6-1)
libacodex-extra-52 (> = 4:0.6-1)
which version of ubuntu is (4:0.5-1)
I come to the question:
you think there is an easy way to update your version of elmer?
If not, where can I find the required packages without risking the stability of my OS?
(I found a repository where to download
deb lucid main restricted universe multiverse http://ppa.launchpad.net/baltix//ppa/ubuntu
but:
a. I can not find the public key of this site
b. Here https://launchpad.net/ ~ baltix-members / + archive / ppa say "Adding this to your PPA system
You can update your system with unsupported packages from this PPA by adding untrusted ppa baltix-members/ppa to your system's Software Sources "
unsupported and untrusted, and the two adjectives I do not like much
Thanks in advance.

Re: updating elmer in unbuntu 10.04 ( no opennovation.org )
I uninstalled elmer from Ubuntu Software Center, than I followed the instruction to add the repository for my ubuntu version 10.04 from this link : http://www.opennovation.org/ubuntu/
Next again from Ubuntu Software Center i searched Elmer and simply installed (verifying from the info that this is the new version).

I think ndrini probably ran into trouble because the opennovation.org version is only compiled for the amd64 (64-bit) platform. To get the source package, which you can build easily, see:
