Elmer courses in may - 1st announcement

Post by raback »

Dear Elmer users,

There will be two Elmer courses taking place in May 2010. Elmer basic course on tuesday the 24th and Elmer advanced course on 25th and 26th. The
basic course will be mainly deal on using Elmer via the graphical user interface while the advanced course will dwell deeper into Elmer code and usage. The advanced course has been extended to two days to include more programming. The basic course is independent while the advanced course assumes some background information, part of which may be obtained at the basic course.

More information and registration form on the courses may be found at:
http://www.csc.fi/english/csc/courses/a ... ourse_2010
http://www.csc.fi/english/csc/courses/a ... ourse_2010

The detailed program of the courses is still under work but it will be rather similar to the previous courses, see for example

If you're interested in the advanced course you could also suggest themes that should be dealt with as we will be preparing some new material anyway.
Note that if you want to join both courses remember also to register to both of them. The deadline for registration (and cancellation) is May the 10th.

We also considered organizing a user meeting as some previous springs. However, we feel that the user meeting has often included so mixed bag of applications that it did not much boost the collaboration. It would be interesting to hear the views of the user community about the best ways to do this. With a focus in software development we would of course like to see a number of active application areas pursuing their own models. This is currently happening in the area of computational glasiology, but other user groups seem to be more isolated.

Best regards,
Peter Råback, CSC
