Re: Correct BC for symmetric Magneto Dynamic analisys

many thanck Peter, also for your great work with Elmer! I will follow your suggestion about the symmetries and I will model 1 quarter with the symmetry planes alligned with the global axex. Moreover I can reduce discretization in the coil volume and in the surrounding air. I never experienced elmer ...

Re: Correct BC for symmetric Magneto Dynamic analisys

... What solver are you using. The periodic stuff does not work for the Whitney elements. ... Yes, I use Withney elemnts for a magneto dynamic analisys. So I have to model the complete stator! These could results in a very big model! (actually I have 140knodes). The limitation that no periodic BCs c...

Re: Correct BC for symmetric Magneto Dynamic analisys

Unfortunatelly not!
Now, I don't have the warning massage any more, but the magnetic flux is still normal to the symmetric BC.
I thik that I need to impose a correct BC for the "P" variable at the symmetric BC, but which one?

Re: Correct BC for symmetric Magneto Dynamic analisys

ok, I foud that there is an error in BC labelling. I mean BC symm 1 was BC symm 2 and viceversa. So in solvig phase i had many error like: ... Correct BC for symmetric Magneto Dynamic analisys

Hi all, I'm trying to perform a magneto dynamic analisys with periodic BC. I modelled 1/8 of the model which leads to a periodic BC. I attached an image in order to clarify the issiu. The peice of code in which I define the BC is: ... omississ ... Boundary Condition 5 Target Boundaries = 1 Name = bc...

how set up an 3d magnetostatic simulation

Hello Elmer users, I have some questions in order to understoode better the set up for Magnetostatic simulation: 1) is it possible to define material non linear permeability like: Material 3 Name = FeDC05 Electric Conductivity = 9.96e6 Relative Permeability = Variable "Magnetic Flux Density&quo...

hybrid mesh with Magnetic A-V solver

hello Elmer users, I'm trying to simulate the magnetic induction in a ferromagnetic torus due to an external coil crossed by stationary current. I use 2 physics, the first one a steady state current in the coil and the second one the magnetic A-V potential with Whitney element in the torus and free ...

Re: 3D Magnetostatics: Aircore Coil Magnetic Flux Simulation

I tried to solve with the standard formula for infinitelly long coil: B=m0 * # turns * current / lenght but the vaule is far from 41.9 mT. I uset a current density of 2.031 A/m^3 that is equivalent of 1000 turns at 10 A. I know that the magnetostatic solver does not fullfil the Coulomb Gauge. I thin...

Re: Magneto Dynamic with Whitney Elements

I found this light model that could be upload. Also for this I notice a segmentotion fault, the some error!
It is a simple coil in air space.

Thanks in advance, Alex

Re: Magneto Dynamic with Whitney Elements

I have changer the iterative method to BiCGStab with ILU=None, but I'm still noticed the segmentation fault.
In your opinion, are the solvers and bc well set?
