Re: Incorrect import of solver variables into GUI
Hallo Matthias, Thank you for the hint and pointing into the right direction! It is a problem of loading extra edf (xml) files as monacellif describes in his post here http://www.elmerfem.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3889#p13678. I have used a custom made edf file for the electrostatic force so...

Re: How to simulate electric field around a livewire?
Hallo sprite, I had a similar problem and could solve most of it using some hints form this post. Are you able to calculate the electric field inside the air? Please have a look at a simple model I placed in one of my posts where I could solve the potential in a "Air"-domain next to a &quo...

Re: Handing over voltage on boundary between Equation-Modules
Hallo, I have built a small simple model to show the basic steps on how to build the above requested simulation. Since it was not really easy for me to figure all details out I hope others can benefit from this. This model incorporates two touching domains, where each is solved from a different solv...

Incorrect import of solver variables into GUI
Changed variable names are not correctly imported into ElmerGUI when reopening a prior saved project. The sif file is still correct and correctly generated as long as the equation dialogue are not updated. I have changed the "Variable" of a "Static Current Conduction" solver from...

import group names from salome unv
Hallo, I generate my mesh with salome. There, I create groups of bodies and boundaries which I save as unv and convert via ElmerGrid to import them into ElmerGUI (using 'ElmerGrid 8 2 Mesh_1.unv -autoclean'). This works basically great, but I would like to know If it is possible to transfer the name...

Re: Help on handling edf file for 'Electrostatic Force solver'
Hallo Matthias, Thank you for the hint with the documentation. I did not know it. But it is a little bit poor. Suppressing the GUI is one thing, the other is suppressing the exported elements in the sif file. What I need is the following... Solver 2 Equation = Electric Force Procedure = "Electr...

Help on handling edf file for 'Electrostatic Force solver'
Hallo, I tried to write a edf file for handling the 'Electrostatic Force solver' described in the nonGUI examples (Tutorial 6, page 30-31, http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/physics/elmer/doc/ElmerTutorials_nonGUI.pdf). I simply looked in existing edf files and copied/adopted parts. The edf file I crea...

Re: Handing over voltage on boundary between Equation-Modules
Thank you peter. I think I am a step further. I now just use "Static Current Conduction" and set the conductivity of the surrounding air to a very small value. The resulting field distribution looks correct. This means I hopefully do not have to couple the both solvers any more. Now I want...

Handing over voltage on boundary between Equation-Modules
Hallo, I need to build a model with two domains one is included in the other. In the outer domain I need to compute the static E-field distribution which is given from the preset potential at the outer boundaries and in the inner one the carrier density has to be determined. I have set up a basic mo...

ElmerGUI-ElmerGrid crashes when loading demo hexhole.grd
Hallo, I tried to work through the tutorial "Capacitance of perforated plate" in http://www.nic.funet.fi/index/elmer/doc/ElmerTutorials.pdf but do have the problem that I cant load the file hexhole.grd . I tried also the file from github but it seams to be the same (old) version as my loca...
