Segmentation fault (core dumped) on 3D Navier-Stokes

Hallo, I try to StepStokes test model to 3D and get a segmentation fault :o . Attached you find my complete model and the .sif. Any suggestions whats wrong? Regarding the material parameter, please keep in mind that the base unit for the model is mm. I really would appreciate if if there was a 3D Na...

Re: Application of a torque as a boundary condition

I want to ask this question again, since the original post and the last answer are relatively old.
Is it in the meantime possible to apply a (mechanical) torque on a boundary?
Thanks in advance,
HoWil

Re: Integrating Elmer into FreeCAD FEM workbench

Markus did post an interesting and encouraging update about the progress on his GSoC -work in the freecad forum.

Re: Calculation of Capacitance in 3D plate capacitor model

Hi Matthias, thank you very much for your answer! With the right scaling, the result is 1.65pF thats in the right range but it is still not what I expect. In theory C=epsilon0*epsilonR*A/d -> C=8.854e-12*1*10e-3*10e-3/1e-3 = 8.854e-13. The result in Elmer is nearly the double.. :?: StatElecSolve: S...

Re: CAD software

If I remember well, FreeCAD should also have a ship module You are right. There a several workbenches but the FEM-wb is one of the most active ones. For all interested here some video-links for beginners: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=j3UBHW_KVNo and a more advanced one... http...

Re: CAD software

Google Sketchup or Blender are both good free CAD packages. There are a number of free packages now available (Even FreeCAD). Freecad is in my opinion here the more useful tool since it includes an own FEM workbench and uses gmsh for multi-body mesh generation. The successful combination with elmer...

Potential Condition in Electrostatics

Hello,

I just stumbled over the input field "Potential Condition" in the boundary conditions for Electrostatics.
Since I could not find any hints (in the forum and in the pdfs for solver and tutorials) what this is for, can you please point me into the right direction?

Re: selecting/unselecting bodies with paraview

Ok, I don't think there is an easy way to directly use the names in Paraview. Having a field that is 1 only for a name and 0 for others would be a solution but a quite excessive one. Do you really think so? We are talking usually of less than ten group names (<3) and as long a as binary 0/1 informa...

Re: selecting/unselecting bodies with paraview

Thanks Anil Kunwar but writing a vtu file myself is a little bit over the top for me. I would be happy if I could create a dummy variable 'my_boundaries' in elmer and set these variable for specific boundaries and bodies to values I like. It is similar to using Geometry Ids but defined by myself. UP...
