Re: Diaphram displacement on Helmholtz Resonator

Hi all, I reworked the project using the test case "Helmholtz Structure 3" and the suggestions here as a guide. It still doesn't work. The coupling between the disk and the resonator seems to be missing. Attached is a tar ball of the whole project. I hope someone can help. The "SaveSc...

Re: Diaphram displacement on Helmholtz Resonator

I have tried incorporate your suggestions into my model. I found that the test case "Helmholtz Structure 3 " to be most helpful. But I still get zero output for displacement. The reason became obvious after some thought. The BC for the main body surfaces are set to Flux = 0.0. So, when the...

Re: Diaphram displacement on Helmholtz Resonator

Hi all; Boy have you guys run with this one. I have been working on the model and haven't been keeping track of the posts. All are appreciated. A clarification: The diaphragm is the driven element. I am trying to model the major drawback of a bass reflex enclosure. The driver becomes completely unlo...

Diaphram displacement on Helmholtz Resonator

Hi all, I have been trying to record the deflection of a diaphragm vs frequency in the side of a Helmholtz Resonator. The scan seems to work but I keep getting zero output to the SaveScalar solver. I have included a .png of the device and zip file of the whole project. Could someone look over the co...

Re: Speaker Resonator Interaction

Hi all, To simplify the problem, I created a project of just the speaker cone alone. The whole project is contained in the attached tar file. I set everything up as best that I could but got result that are unrealistic. What I expected was that the plate would move normal to the face. The results se...

Re: Heat transfer between two blocks

Hi all,
Setting a boundary condition at the interface and using merge 1 on ElmerGrid solved the problem. Putting the parts together with FreeCAD's compound command does the perfect setup for the process.

Thanks again for the help.

Heat transfer between two blocks

Hi all, I have been fighting the problem of coupling between two 3D object for various projects. The following is the simplest example that illustrates the problem. Two blocks of metal - one steel the other aluminum - are placed together. The steel blocks outer face is maintained at 400C and the alu...

Re: Program received signal SIGABRT: Process abort signal.

I really appreciate the participation on this post but I can not duplicate the notch result that you all are getting. I'm exporting the freecad file to a .brep file, loading into gmsh, meshing in 3D and splitting mesh. I have tried it both with and without negen. I then run the .msh file through &qu...

Re: Program received signal SIGABRT: Process abort signal.

Hi Rich, Thanks for the reply. This is strange. My files show no notch in the electrodes as shown below. Also the top of the solver log shows just the standard header information. I am using Elmer version 9.0 built from scratch. Is there a difference between our versions? I think I am going to downl...
