Documentation no longer has tutorials
Hi, the new September 2011 edition of the Elmer documentation on SourceForge is missing two files which were in prior editions: ElmerGridFiles.tar.gz and ElmerTutorialsFiles.tar.gz . The ElmerGridFiles are in elmergrid/tests but I don't see the tutorials anywhere in the tree. Is there a canonical pl...

Re: ElmerGUI Output File Formats
You can look in the ElmerModelsManual.pdf file, "Model 36 Result Output for Other Postprocessors". In the January 2011 edition, it's on page 156.

Re: Best way to make apps using elmer?
Hello law, The Elmer solvers are all in a shared library written in Fortran 90, so in principle it should not be hard to write an application using them. Look in fem/src: the minuscule Solver.src source code links to libelmersolver and runs everything there. That said, there isn't really a documente...

Re: mechanical analysis on large domains (>200k nodes)
Hello, You can build the Debian package from source using the instructions on the Wiki. To change MPI implementation, just install MPICH2 or LAM and then (as root): update-alternatives --config mpi which will let you choose between the installed MPI implementations. You need to do this at compile ti...

Electrochemistry Wiki example as an Elmer fem/tests entry
Hi, would it be appropriate to include the Wiki electrochemistry example as a new entry in the fem/tests directory?

For recent laptops there's also usually some way to get scroll wheel functionality, e.g. my 2007 Dell Latitude uses the right edge of the trackpad for scrolling, and of course Macs use multitouch.

Re: debian
Hi, this is more of a Debian question than an Elmer question, VirtualBox is a complicated beast. I thought there was a Debian virtualization list, but it doesn't look like it, so debian-user@lists.debian.org is probably your best bet.

Re: Problems importing CAD and mesh files
Hello zerg and Peter, Sorry I didn't see this thread until just now. If you're running Ubuntu 10.04, you might want to use the Opennovation repository at http://www.opennovation.org/ubuntu/ . I try to keep it up to date, at most a month behind SVN, though I'm currently six weeks behind so I guess it...
