Re: CAD software
A path that I use (OpenSource) is: Blender->EnGrid->ELMER For Blender 2.49b you can copy-paste the scripts from EnGrid to save as .msh or .becg Sometimes you need to check/repair the mesh in FreeCAD, then re-import in Blender, but usually works ok. Also you might look at OpenFlipper to repair/decima...

ERROR:: IterSolve: Failed convergence tolerances
Hello Elmer gurus - I run into a strange problem. I;m doing some testbeds for simple HVAC ducts, nothing complicated. The goal is to illustrate to students how pressure and speed levels of the air are in different ducts. To simplify things I use one of the examples that are supplied by ELMER team (L...

measuring tool
Hello - is there a way/tool to measure meshes in Elmer (overall length, between nodes, etc)?
I created meshes with different packages and that seems a problem, as once I imported the .vtu into ParaView and I turned on both cases I realized the difference in sizes.
Help really appreciated!
Thanks.

Re: CAD software
If you are looking for Open Source try FreeCAD, then export to gmsh, Salome, EnGrid, Discretizer, ELMER, ... You can generate 2D production drawings with DraftSight by Dassault Systemes (it is freeware, runs on Windows, MacOS X and Linux). Or going Open Source for 2D you can use LibreCAD/QCAD. Also,...

Re: ERROR:: LUDecomp: Matrix is singluar.
Juha -
I'll try to re-do the case, as I overwritten that one.
Is it possible to e-mail you the case instead of posting? Some files I like not to be public as they are for some real life projects, and I try to avoid any
issues.
... just that I need to re-do the case first ...
Thanks for your help!

ERROR:: LUDecomp: Matrix is singluar.
Hello - I'm running a simple test using NavierStokes for air flow in an atrium. To simplify the solution, in the initial steps I'm using a 2D section through the atrium. After starting the Solver I get this error: ERROR:: LUDecomp: Matrix is singluar. ERROR:: InvertMatrix: Matrix is singular. (Resul...

Re: elmersolver crashes
Project directory location seems to be a problem with Elemer under Windows.
If the project is located somewhere under C:\ Elmer solver hangs ... once I moved the project directory under C:\Elmer6.2 directory it started running the simulations.
So might be an issue/bug with the Windows built.

Re: 2D Modeler tutorial/documentation
Peter - thanks for your reply. 1. Initially I was mimicking those examples using existing .in2d files and changing few things here and there to understand how things work. I have a question on curves tab for the 2D modeler : what "in" and "out" represent exactly? I guessed few th...

2D Modeler tutorial/documentation
Hello - 1. is there a tutorial for using the 2D Modeler? I searched but couldn't find info. I'm playing with it to create some 2d meshes and simulate airflow inside these, to test Elmer's capabilities. 2. Also a question: how do I increase the mesh density? See attached screencapture. Thanks for you...

Re: ElmerGUI crash when loading a gmsh mesh
Peter - thanks for help! 1. mostly used discretizer, engrid, gmsh and a bit of salome. But the architectural models are done in other software packages like Revit, ArchiCAD and sometimes we use Blender. 2. LES 3. once I have a thorough/meaningful material for the simulation using Elmer I'll post the...
